For the first period in the first year of GLR we had to make a (celebrity) face using fineliner.
We could do
this using with a black and white photo, print that one out and either draw the face in front of you, or outline
the face with the lighttable. I choose the latter one.
For this assignment we could only use 3 different ways of drawing the faces.
• Lines
• Scratched
• Dotted
I choose the latter one and went ahead and searched for a Tom Hiddleston face, since I liked that actor most at
the time.
After I found a good black & white photo I initially wanted to do this by simply copying the face on the
computer, but this seemed a bit harder then expected, since
I'm not the best with drawing faces I choose to print it out and draw the outlines using the lighttable.
Unfortunatly I wasn't quick enough to get started on the face during the class, so I had to start at home.
For the assignment I had 3 days to finish it.
(The reason a Chibi Loki is in the right upper corner is
because the teacher wanted us to add a background, my background was Loki but the teacher didn't see this as
a background so I didn't get an extra point for adding a background).
I started with the outlines of my sketch. I had to OG photo with me to check the shades of Toms face.
As seen in the photo I used different fineliner tip as different shaders. So for instance the tip of the
darkest part as a tip of 0.8, where as the lightest has one with 0.05 tip.
You can also see what I mean with the outline dots, mostly on his cheecks. I later decided to use the lines
for Toms hair. Both on his head as with his eyebrows.
As Tom was finished, I still had to dot Chibi Loki. This was a loot easier, and quicker than Toms face. Since I
couldn't feel my wrist after finishing him 😬
As I was finishing up, I noticed how dark Toms forhead is in comparesing to the photo. This is too this day
still one of the things I regret most about the dotting. I also feel like I could've blended the dots a bit
better together.
